It has been an
interesting and active spring for Disciple Men of Westville. After a very
successful Sweetheart breakfast for our church ladies in February, the
Sunday after Easter was a musical extravaganza. Hosted by Disciple men led
by Fido Stevens our annual Men's Musical earned nearly $600 for
the benefit of Camp Craig Springs Special Camp for Special People. With
gratitude to the men and women of the church for refreshments following a
full two hours of gospel music we all enjoyed musical talents presented to
a near full house.
In April, two
men went to the Regional Men's Conference at Wakefield's Airport
Conference Center. The nearly 70 men from across Virginia were guided by
Carl Zerweck, currently the Director of the DHM office of Disciple
Volunteer Missions in 4 sessions of learning and sharing. I was personally
honored to accept the nomination of President of Disciple Men for the
Region of Virginia. We are currently negotiating with Phillip Gulley, well
known author from Indianapolis to be our 2009 conference leader.
Westville's
Disciple Men continue to host breakfast each second Saturday of the month.
It is a time of food for the body and soul and all men are invited to
attend. Breakfast is served at 8:30.
